Today several people are trying to find themselves and do find it a good way to change themselves totally. At first there where just the face lifting than changing of the colour of the skin and now the change of gender seems to be very popular in certain regions.
The media are helping a lot to make a hipe of new trends. Tabloids earn their money by looking for weird stories and for shocking news. Big story the last few days was the transformation of Bruce Jenner, decathlon gold medalist and reality TV star, into Caitlyn Jenner.
When the new Jenner, with flowing brunette locks, an ample bust and a corset, appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, social media went mad. Within hours, the Twitter account of Caitlyn Jenner went from 0 to 1.1 million followers (BioEdge has about 5,000).
It looked like the sports performance got him/her less fans.
Looking at the papers it seemed strange that so many people said those sporters who had gained medals and later changed sex had to deliver their medals. That I would not find right because at the time of the Olympic Games they were accepted as that person they presented at that moment and contested under that gender which was accreted at that time. So in my eyes they should keep their medal and should stay notated as winner of that game. Though I would agree in the annals could be stated that they changed gender and when they became who.
What about the parents facing the changes of their kids. In a Louis Turoux documentary about sex changes by young kids in the U.S.A. it seemed so natural for most of the parent, though the grand parents having more difficulties with it. Or parents divorcing and having kids finding it normal to be a boy in fathers house and a girl in mothers house.
A question to be raised: when going into the matter of sex-questions.
Also, people should not confuse with gay issues. Though the the "National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA)" and several gay groups want to make use of it or say those gender changing persons are playing treason.
For the NLGJA Bruce Jenner can call himself anything he/she wants to, and the media are obligated to go along with whatever or whoever he says he wants to be.
There is no evidence that Jenner has changed his male DNA or even that his name has been legally changed to Caitlyn. Nevertheless, the NLGJA declared that
“Now that Jenner has publicly announced a gender identity, the best practice is to refer to Caitlyn Jenner by the name she announced.”And is that not what we all should do when people have changed their identity and have taken on an other name, should we not accept them as they want to be recognised as such or such?
