God is my refuge and my fortress in Him I will trust

What do we do when we are in trouble or when we find our circumstances are out of control? 

One of the best things about being a father is learning from our children.  In a child's life things often go wrong and events happen that leave them feeling out of control.  Until a child is grown they are not equipped to face everything the world throws at them.  They lack strength, confidence and skill.  This is where mum and dad come in.  At those out of control moments the first thing a child does is to cry, "Mum!" or "Dad!"  It is the first thing they think of.  It is a totally natural response to difficulty and fear.  To a small child a parent is an inexhaustible supply of strength, wisdom and skill, so it is only logical that their mum or dad should be their first port of call.  It comes from a total trust in their parents who care for them.

The Psalmist wrote the following: "I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.'"  (Psa 91:2) The LORD should also be our refuge in the same way that we are a refuge for our children.  We must have the same sort of faith in God as our young children have in us, and with that, put all our trust in him.

Let's make God our first port of call, relying on his wisdom and strength to help us in our times of need.

God is mijn toevlucht, mijn fort en sterkte, op Hem zal ik vertrouwen

Vertrouw In God

“Ik zal van Jehovah zeggen, Hij is mijn toevlucht, mijn vesting; mijn God in wie ik vertrouw” (Psalm 91:2)

Wat doen wij wanneer wij in probleem zijn of wanneer wij vinden dat onze omstandigheden buiten controle zijn?

Één van de beste dingen betreft het vader zijn is het leren van onze kinderen. In het leven van een kind gaan de dingen vaak verkeerd en de gebeurtenissen gebeuren dat zij zich onbeheerst voelen.  Tot een kind wordt opgegroeid is, is het niet uitgerust om alles onder ogen te zien dat de wereld hen voor de voeten werpt. Het ontbreekt hen aan sterkte, vertrouwen en vaardigheid. Dit is waar moeder en de vader in het beeld komen. Op die onbeheerste ogenblikken is het eerste ding een kind doet schreeuwen, „Mama!“ of „Papa!“  Het is het eerste dat zij kunnen bedenken.  Het is een totaal natuurlijke reactie op moeilijkheid en vrees. Voor een klein kind is een ouder een onuitputtelijke voorziening van sterkte, wijsheid en vaardigheid, zodat het slechts logisch is dat hun mama of papa hun eerste thuishaven zouden moeten zijn. Het komt uit een totaal vertrouwen in hun ouders die voor hen geven.

De Psalmist schreef het volgende: „ik zal van de Heer zeggen, „hij is mijn toevluchtsoord en mijn vesting, mijn God in wie ik vertrouw. “ „(Psalm 91:2) De Heer zou ook ons toevluchtsoord moeten zijn op de zelfde manier dat wij een toevluchtsoord voor onze kinderen zijn.  Wij moeten het zelfde soort geloof in God hebben zoals onze jonge kinderen in ons, en met dat, zet al je vertrouwen in op hem.

Maak God tot onze eerste thuishaven die, zich op zijn wijsheid en sterkte baseert ons in onze tijden van nood.

When we are in need of spiritual strength, that strength is ours when we cry out to the Lord and seek Him for it. Day by day. Are you relying upon the Lord's strength today?
