Cincinnati outlaws quoting the Bible

From the beginning of December 2015 quoting the bible is considered an illegal offence in that major city.

You may wonder how people can come so far to declare a  quotation from any civil writing justified and proving of intelligence, knowing such literature, but bringing quotes from the Bible being a criminal act.

At a meeting of the Cincinnati City Council’s law and public safety committee, Councilmember Chris Seelbach is said to
“propose an ordinance that would impose a $200-a-day fine on a therapist or counselor practicing the therapy that aims to “change” lesbians, gay men, bisexuals or transgender people from their sexual orientation or gender identity,”
according to Cincinnati.com.

While a handful of states have passed similar rules and regulations, no major city in the U.S. has done so, leaving many to think that Cincinnati is leading the way of wickedness.
People have chosen to use the term “wickedness” because using this law is nothing short of a denial of the biblical doctrine of sanctification, threatening sickening fines of $73,000 per year to a counselor that uses 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 to help those caught in sin:
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
According to some Americans this means that
Essentially, anyone who refuses to bow their knee to the idol of sexual anarchy will be forced to pay the price.

The law which is aimed at abolishing therapies which seek to guide homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders away from what the Most High God considers sinful tendencies, and instead steer them towards a heterosexual, biblically correct lifestyle.

Those therapists who believe in the Word of God and in the Power of that Word, become now more limited. Parents who also believe in God and want to follow the Word of God are by this law also limited by their choice of therapist and by bringing their child with an other feeling in contact with others who could help this young person.

Those families who seek out guidance from Christian-based counselors because they prefer to receive help from someone who is like-minded and shares their deeply-held religious views are now restricted in their freedom of choice and freedom of expression. The Bible helps those troubled by all sorts of sexual sin, not just homosexuality, but now it will be illegal for anyone in Cincinnati to obtain spiritual guidance for anything from extramarital affairs to premarital sex.

This is a very strange situation for a country which claims to be for the freedom of man and freedom of thoughts. for the restriction of weapon carrying they do everything calling on the amendments of the American constitution and the so holy American rights. Though for many a silencing of those who believe in the Bible seems a normal case to take in this contemporary world where there has total sexual freedom.

She who sows thistles will reap prickles

"She who sows thistles will reap prickles."
- English Proverb

"He who sows wickedness reaps trouble,
and the rod of his fury will be destroyed."
Proverbs 22:8

God teach me always to respond properly
and let me never lit anger
but let me scatter and harvest peace.

God does not change

"Let's get one thing clear; God is not changeable. He does not suffer from moods or depression. There is no "shadow of turning"; the Bible says, with Him.

That means that He does not have double standards. It also means that we cannot do things behind His back as it were. We are always in His sight. He is faithful and consistent.

There are examples, of course, of God's kindness and mercy in the Old Testament. The law of Moses, strict as it seems, was founded on very merciful principles. If it had been kept properly, it would have resulted in a clean, caring and just society. Provision was made for everyone down to the very poorest of the people. Even the humane treatment of animals was provided for.

Why then was there this idea of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth? How does this square with the very different teaching of Jesus? Did not Jesus tell us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us?

Yes, he did. Indeed it was Jesus himself who invited us to make this comparison. He first mentioned this difference between established teaching and his own word.

We need to know first, however, what the "eye for an eye" idea meant. This is not the licence to retaliate that it sounds to be. It was concerned with the operation of justice.

Think back to the last argument you heard. It probably began with something quite trivial. Before long, however, it escalated. Something was said that evoked a retort. That provoked another comment which, in turn, led to a slightly stronger reply. Gradually the two sides forced each other further apart. Each answer became a little more extreme. Soon people were saying things that were exaggerated and which later might be regretted.

That is always the case. Human nature always has to go one better (or one worse). The tendency is to hit back harder. "He has blacked my eye, I'll black both his:"

It was exactly that which the law was designed to prevent. It was not so much a permission as a restraint. First the wrong had to be established. When that was done, punishment had to be administered. But the punishment must fit the crime. It was not literally the gouging out of eyes, but a just measure of punishment.

Jesus plainly said that he did not come to destroy the law. He did not change it to mean something else. What he did do was to take the principles of the law a step further.

For example, he pointed to the law which said a man must not murder. Jesus looked at what gives rise to murder. He considered the root cause. He said that a man should not be angry with another. If a man controls his anger he will not commit murder.

Jesus drew attention to the commandment not to commit adultery. Again, he saw that the basic failure of man in this sin was his lust. Jesus instructed that a man should control his lust. He taught that the desire and planning of such an act was wicked. It was as bad as the act itself if only the opportunity to carry it out was missing.

So with the law which permitted a punishment equal to the crime. The law restricted the retaliation. It was far better, as Jesus taught, if man could overcome his desire to retaliate altogether. He should love his enemies and do good to those who hated him. Vengeance should be left to God. He will see that true justice is done ultimately."

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

Thoughts
So often sin and ungodly lifestyles are portrayed as glamorous. The way of blessing, however, is the way of God. His will is for our good, his commands spring from his mercy and protection, and his way is the path of life. We are blessed when we walk with God and do his will.

Prayer
Forgive me, Father, for believing the lies of the world and being deceived and enticed by temptations. I know that sin brings heartaches, complications, and problems. I also know that choosing the right things, standing up for truth, and living faithfully for you are sometimes very difficult. Please help my heart believe and my mind see that walking in your will brings me life. In Jesus' name I ask this. Amen.
