Preventing us from going window-shopping in prayer

"In order to make sure that we are not retreating from the tension of faith,
it is helpful to ask ourselves as we pray, 'Do I really expect anything to
happen?' This will prevent us from going window-shopping in prayer."
- Catherine Marshall

" ... 'For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'"
Matthew 6:7-14
