Wishing to do the will of God

Daily Heavenly Manna

I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6

HE who gives his will, his heart, to the Lord, gives all; he who gives not his will, who comes not in obedience of heart unto the Lord, can offer no sacrifice to the Lord that could be acceptable.
"Behold to obey is better than sacrifice," is a lesson which should be deeply engraved upon the hearts of all the sanctified in Christ Jesus. To have the spirit of obedience is necessary too, and whoever has the spirit of obedience will not only obey the divine will, but will seek to know the divine will more and more that he may obey it. It is of this class that the Scriptures declare, "His word was found and I did eat it;" and again, in the words of our Lord, "I delight to do Thy will, O My God: Thy law is written in My heart." No man is free who is not master of himself

Dutch version / Nederlandse versie > Geen mens is vrij die geen meester van zichzelf is

"No man is free who is not master of himself ...
Is freedom anything else than the power of living as we choose?"
- Epictetus

"I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.
I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame,
for I delight in your commands because I love them."
Psalm 119:45-47

I am rich by following your law Lord.
In sincerity of my heart I thank you as I learn your righteous rules.
I want to be faithful to Your covenant requirements, let me not wander from your commandments. With all my heart I still find you, let me not depart from your bid.
My choice is made, for you I have chosen.
I fill my heart with your words, this is the only way not to sin and not to grieve you.
Blessed are you Jehovah, learn me all about your law and give me divine freedom.

Be like a tree planted by streams of water

He [the one who delights in and meditates upon the Law of the Lord] is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Dutch version / Nederlands > Wees als een boom geplant aan stromend water

Thoughts
Phil Ware    Some kinds of earthly delight can feed our hearts for a short time. However, when difficulties come, our hearts will wither in the drought of their false nourishment. On the other hand, delighting in the LORD and in his will for us provides us with ongoing and ever-fresh joy. Out of this God-seeking lifestyle come both short-term and long-term benefits as well as a resiliency that withstands life's worst droughts.

Prayer
Dear God, the Holy One of heaven, I do find my delight in you and your ways. I find my refreshment in your abiding Spirit. Please give me the wisdom to seek your will every day of my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Happy who's delight is only in the law of Jehovah

Psalm 1:1-2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Thoughts
Phil Ware    Delight! In things of God do you find delight? What holy things of the Father in heaven hold your thoughts throughout the day? Why not join me in trying to put more of God's word in your head through memorization and into your heart through prayerful Bible study?!

Prayer
Father in heaven, holy and righteous in all of your ways, I confess that I do not always make the most of my thought time. I often allow my mind to drift away into areas I shouldn't explore. I will occasionally get too focused on things that are inconsequential. I want my mind and my heart more in tune with you, your Word, your will, and your way. Give me true wisdom, enlightened by your Spirit, to see, know, absorb, and contemplate the things that are closest to your heart. In Jesus' name. Amen.

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us

Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Matt. 3:15
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. Psa. 40:8
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt. 5:17, 18
The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness'sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable. Isa. 42:21
Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:20
What the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom. 8:3, 4
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Rom. 10:4
