A prophet to restore

Isaiah, of Jerusalem wanted to be a servant of God the Allmighty and ministered from the year King Uzziah died (740/39), through the reigns of Jotham (740/39), Ahaz (732/31-716/715) and Hezekiah (716/15-687/86).

There is no instance where the prophets regard themselves as the inspired founders of a new spiritual religion, but everywhere they regard themselves as the restorers and reformers of a religion already in being and known to their auditors. Isaiah wanted as a servant to God bring the world Gods Message. Isaiah calls the people to repentance, and are assures that blessing should follow repentance.
There shall come judgement of the wicked and a restoration of the righteous remnant. Those who want to listen shall be able to put their hopes in the Promises of God, who shall not leave them alone. The Good Tidings is about an ordinary man who shall give up his life, having done nothing wrong. He will be placed higher and shall be recognised as the Messiah who shall restore the kingdom to Israel in that day of the earth’s glory.

Possibility to live

Those who look into the Book  of Books and dare to take time to study this Word of God may be sure that God is looking down. He wants to know if there are any who would like to understand His Words, any who really want to seek Him.

In this world we can feel captive, hands tied, in a kind of prison. We can feel left alone, forgotten. But God does not forget you. He is interested in His Creation and is willing to come forward to those who want to find Him. Also for those who are ready to accept His son He is reaching His hand out to this world.

In the Word of God we can find a New Testament, the Book that tells us about the New Covenant and about that one person who gave his life for everybody. By giving his life we receive the possibility to live.

We are here to leave our loads, safe in fellowship, in love, centred around the huge love God shows us through His son. So, let’s try to leave our loads in the left luggage office, so we can enjoy the blessings God gives us, Rob Clements exhorted the Horley Christadelphians last Sunday.

Who rescues us? “In all these things we are more than conquerors, through him who loved us, because we know that in all things God works for the good of those that love Him, who has been called for His purpose.” Romans 8:31 – “If God is for us, who can be against us. He who did not spare His own son, but gave him up for us all.”

A learning process for each of us

To believe and to be a Christian is a learning process is. In a learning process there is always space to go wrong. If you cannot go wrong , you learn nothing! But by God, Jehovah, and by Jesus, Jeshua it goes about, our inclination, if we really want to learn. That is with an earthly father and an earthly teacher also. A good father expects no more  of its child then where it is regarding to which it is  able according to its age. A good school master does not become angry for the errors which a student makes as long as he has the inclination to learn.

God is a good father and Jesus is a good teacher. They give us all space to learn with falling and standing  up. As long as our inclination is well. And we receive that good inclination by the new treaty, Jesus New Covenant.

The Law of Christ: Law of Love

"... we find that the law of love is the basis of all the instruction given by Christ and his Apostles. They often mentioned details which would not have occurred to us, but the details are all strictly related to the fundamental principle presented in the law through Moses and stated by Christ to be the foundation of his teaching: the whole-hearted love of God, and the self-sacrificing love of man.

The Lord Jesus gave a new impetus and even a new significance to the old command. Some disciples have been puzzled by his saying: "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another" (John 13:34). In view of the fact that this law was so old and Christ had emphasized its fundamental character, why did he call it new? It is easy to find the answer to this question, and when found it becomes perhaps the most moving and searching of all thoughts for disciples.

The Mosaic law commanded that a man should love the Lord his God with all the heart, soul and strength, and that he should love his neighbour as himself; but these were not, and could not be, the laws by which a man could be judged before any merely human tribunal. The feelings and thoughts of a man's mind cannot be assessed correctly by a human judge. The law courts of mortal men can only judge in a negative manner. That was inevitably true in the old dispensation, and so a man who in no way injured his neighbours was legally correct in his social behaviour, even though wrong feelings were in his heart and wrong thoughts in his mind. Human judges were guided by the sight of their eyes and the hearing of their ears. Christ is under no such limitations. Even in the days of his flesh he knew what was in man, and needed not that any should tell him. When he comes as the ruler of mankind, he will not judge after the sight of his eyes or the hearing of his ears. With an all-penetrating knowledge, he will look into the heart of a man, and judge him by what he really is, and not what he appears to be. For us to be acceptable disciples this law of love must be in our hearts. There must be not merely an outward show of piety, but the reality of love for God, not merely a formal show of solicitude for a neighbour's welfare, or conventional acts of charity, but a real love of man. The Lord will look into our inmost being, and require that the reality of love shall be there."

Around the feast of Unleavened Bread

“And the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the day for killing the paschal lamb, his disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make preparation for you to eat the Passover?" Then he sent two of his disciples, and told them. "Go into the city, and you will meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him; and whatever house he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher asks, "Where is your guest-chamber, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"’ He will himself show you a large, upper room, furnished and ready. there make preparation for us." So the disciples went off, and came into the city, and found everything as he had told them.” (Mr 14:12-16 MONTNT)

And there arose also a dispute among them as to which of them could be considered the greatest, and he said to them. "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have who have authority over them are called Benefactors. "But you shall not be so. But he who is greater among you let him become like the younger; and he who is leader like him who serves. "For which is greater, he who sits at table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at table? But I am in your midst as one who serves. "You, however, are those who have stood by me in my trials. "And I promise you a kingdom, even as my Father has promised me a kingdom; "so that you shall eat and drink in my kingdom, and you shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. "Simon, Simon," said the Lord, "behold, Satan has asked to have you all that he might sift you like wheat. "But I made supplication for you that your own faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned again, must strengthen your brothers." "Lord," Simon said to him, "I am ready to go with you, both to prison and to death." "I tell you, Peter," he answered. "the cock will not crow this day until you will three times deny that you know me." Moreover, he said to them, "When I sent you out without purse or wallet or sandals, did you lack anything?" And he who has no sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one. "For I say to you that this word of Scripture must find it’s fulfilment in me. "And he was numbered among the transgressors, For that which concerns me has its accomplishment." "Master" they said, "here are two swords!" "That is enough," he answered. Then he went out, and began to go to the Mount of Olives, as was his wont; and his disciples followed him. But he arrived at the place he said to them, "Pray that you enter not into temptation." But he himself withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, kneeling down he prayed repeatedly, saying. "Father, if thou art willing, take away this cup from me; but thy will, not mine, be done!" (And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. (And being in agony he kept praying more earnestly; and his sweat became as if it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.) When he arose from his prayers, and came to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, and said to them. "Why are you asleep? Get up, and pray that you enter not into temptation." While he was still speaking there came a crowd, and he who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus in order to kiss him, but Jesus said to him, "Judas, you are betraying the Son of man with a kiss?" Those who were around him, when they saw what was about to happen, said to him, "Lord, shall we strike with our swords?" Then one of them did strike a blow at the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear. "Permit me to do this at least," said Jesus, as he touched his ear and healed him. Then Jesus said to the corps of priests and captains of the temple and elders who had come out to arrest him. "Have ye come for me with swords and clubs to arrest me like a robber? "When daily I was with you in the temple you did not stretch out your hands to take me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness." So they seized him and led him away, and took him to the house of the high priest; while Peter was following him a long way off. And when they had lighted a fire in the center of the court, and had sat down together, Peter was taking his seat among them. But a certain maid servant saw him taking his seat near the fire and, with a sharp glance at him, she said, "This fellow was with him, too!" But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I know nothing about him." A little later a man saw him, and said, "You too are one of them" But Peter declared, "Man, I am not." But an hour afterwards another man kept insisting, saying. "Really,this fellow was with him. Why, he is a Galilean." "Man," said Peter, "I do not know what you mean." And immediately, while he was still speaking, the cock crew. Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter, and Peter recollected the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "This very day, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." And Peter went outside and wept with bitter crying. Meanwhile the men who were holding Jesus in custody kept mocking and striking him. They would blindfold him and ask him. "Prophesy! Tell who struck you!" And they said many other insulting things against him.” (Lu 22:7-65 MONTNT)
