Yeshua a man with a special personality

We can find in the New Testament a man with an outstanding personality. One who gives striking evidence of extraordinary powers in the miracles he performs; he makes the most penetrating observations about human life, and faith, and the true worship of God; and his claims concerning himself, as the only source of life to come, are such as no one else would dare to make.
Who is that man?
Survey question for April:

Is Jesus or Jesus / Yeshua Really God?

Possible Answers:

- Jesus is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity.
- Jesus is the Son of God but pre-existed as an Archangel.
- Jesus was a great teacher but merely human.
- Jesus is the Son of God, a unique man who did not exist before his birth.
- Don't know.

"Jesus: God the Son or Son of God?"

They have no different ideas, but confess everything exactly as the Law proclaims it and in the Jewish fashion – except for their belief in Christ, if you please! For they acknowledge both the resurrection of the dead and the divine creation of all things, and declare that God is one, and that his Son is Yeshua Mshikha (jesus christ in the original writings).

Do not be afraid. Good news because a Saviour has been born

Luke 2:8-11 (34 kb)
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."

Luke 2:10, New International Version

Thought:

Don't be afraid! What can cast away all fear in the presence of God's glorious messengers? The joy of knowing that God has brought His son to earth to bring an end to sin and the curse of the first sin in the Garden of Eden and to bring salvation to all people!
Fear must not master our hearts when we know that God has broken through every barrier to reach us with his overwhelming grace.
We may also look up to that child in the manger that grew up to become a great teacher and an example for us.
Prayer

I praise you, Almighty God, for the gift of joy that chases away all fear. Fill my heart with that joy and fill my mind with wonder as I try to comprehend your love for me. Stir me to greater concern for those who have not heard, or who have not yet accepted, your offer of grace in your Son Jesus, in whose name I pray.
Amen.

Self-preservation is the highest law of nature

"Self-preservation is the highest law of nature;
self-sacrifice is the highest rule of grace ..."
- Unknown

"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth."
John 1:14

I am grateful that Jesus sacrificed himself for us.
I ask you God that I will become like Christ
and that I always will sacrifice myself for others.

Character transformed by the influence of our fellowships

"Character is transformed by the influence of our fellowships. No man can become good merely by trying. A deepening character is generally the unconscious result of consciously chosen influences. Find a friend, believe in him and love him; see a great cause and give yourself to its work; feel the power of a book and saturate yourself with its spirit; find a brotherhood of spirits like yours in aspiration and join it; and loving your friend, serving your cause, absorbing your book, and co-operating with your brotherhood, do not think too much about your own character, for your character will take care of itself. You cannot choose to be Christ-like and attain your choice by trying; but you can choose Christ for your Friend, His Kingdom for your cause, the Bible for your Book, the Ecclesia for your Brotherhood, and these consciously chosen influences will unconsciously transform your life."

"The Manhood of the Master" (1913) - Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878-1969)

"We all, with unveiled face reflecting as a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are transformed into the same image from glory to glory,
even as from the Lord the Spirit"

1 Corinthians 15 Hope in action

"Our future in Christ is secure. Nothing can shake the promise of resurrection to God's faithful people. Resurrection is a certainty - more sure than anything else we can have in this life. Our resurrections will also be a time of great reward when we will receive a new and immortal life - a life that has none of the problems and pains of the life we now live. Resurrection is an incredible hope.

It is because of the certainty and the awesomeness of the resurrection, that Paul says this at the end of the chapter: "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15 v 58)

Take a look at your own life. Do we stand firm in our faith?

Do we always give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord? If either of those answers are "no," then it follows that either our faith in God's promises is lacking, or that we do not fully understand the implications of the resurrection.

This life is not worth the time and energy we give it. Let's focus on God's promises and the resurrection and always give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord."

- Robert Prins, Thinky Things

"O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
1 Corinthians 15:55-58

Partakers of the sufferings

“So let us go forth to Him outside the camp bearing His reproach. For we do not have here a continuing city, but we seek the [city] coming.” (Heb 13:13-14 LIT)

“Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial happening among you for your testing, as [if] a surprise [were] occurring to you; but according as you share the sufferings of Christ, rejoice; so that you may rejoice exultingly at the revelation of His glory.” (1Pe 4:12-13 LIT)

“and our hope for you [is] certain, knowing that even as you are sharers of the sufferings, so also of the comfort.” (2Co 1:7 LIT)

“If you are reviled in [the] name of Christ, [you are] blessed, because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you." Truly, according to them, He is blasphemed; but according to you, He is glorified. [Isa. 11:2]” (1Pe 4:14 LIT)

“Then they indeed departed from [the] presence of the sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were deemed worthy to be dishonored on behalf of His name.” (Ac 5:41 LIT)

“having chosen rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than for a time to have enjoyment of sin; having counted the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.” (Heb 11:25-26 LIT)

Let God's promises shine on your problems

"Let God's promises shine on your problems."
- Corrie Ten Boom

"For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, ...
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes,
and in Him Amen,
to the glory of God through us."
