The Bible and Science seminar

The Bible and Science

On 29th March, God willing, the Christadelphians are holding at Downend a series of seminar type presentations on "The Bible and Science" which are designed to show that there is abundant evidence in the creation for the existence of God.
These sessions will run from 2.30 to 7.15pm and will be held at the Downend Christadelphian Hall. The Presenters are Brethren John, Michael and James Thorpe.

A Poster, together with a Programme giving full details of the individual sessions and the qualifications of the speakers, has been circulated to Ecclesias in the region. If anyone has missed this notice please email me at peterbawdon@hotmail.com for further details.

It is hoped that the sessions will be attractive to youngsters from the age of 14, and to all Brethren and Sisters, interested in this fascinating subject.

A Work book of guidance notes is being produced by the Thorpe brethren to help with the understanding of the topics being discussed. This will be a 48 page pdf document and copies can be emailed to anyone who books in and provides an email address. Please, therefore, will all those intending to come email Peter Bawdon at peterbawdon@hotmail.com by 22 March at the latest. This will also enable us to gauge numbers for tea.

Fraternal week-end at Easter in Paris

The 14 Nisan gathering for the Memorial service is this year on the 14th of April. Because not all brethren and sisters can make it on a week day, we also invite them to come together at our usual meeting place for the 'Easter' celebration, at the Quaker house in Paris on the Sunday.

Each year there is a fraternal week-end at Easter in Paris, France. This year the relevant dates are 18 – 21 April. We stay together in a modest hotel, do the readings together and have 2 formal meetings where we are joined by some of our members who live in France and Belgium. The ability to speak/understand French is useful but not at all essential.

Escaped the fighting in South Sudan

Sue Mathias is presently in Uganda and has seen 2 of the brothers who escaped the fighting in South Sudan. They are both well. She also confirms that our sister Purity has now reached her home in Kenya after Sue and John Mathias were able to get funds to her to travel through Ethiopia, the same applies to our brother Martyn who has also now reached Kenya.

A student who was also caught up in the fighting is safely in Northern Uganda. Sue and John have lost contact with a number of brothers and sisters and students and your prayers are still urgently required. The temptation to travel back to Uganda for economic reasons is high and Sue has tried to counsel the brothers not to travel there as some Ugandans have already done. The Ugandan military are involved and there is now concern that Ugandans will be targeted as a result of this.
