"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope.
And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his love into our hearts."
Romans 5:3-5


Though our hope in Jesus Christ, through whom we have received reconciliation,
we rejoice already now. Even though many tests in our lives come over us,
let us be stronger than this and give that we ourselves still feel happy.
Let us stand and win life.
You have the victory wreath of life promised. We hope for it.
Lord, protect me in my expectations
and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Don’t disappoint me.

Door afstand te nemen van deze wereld lijkt het voor velen dat wij veel verliezen.
Maar door Christus te volgen winnen wij heel veel.
Wij zijn blij en dankbaar dat wij gerechtvaardigd worden door te geloven.
Wij verheugen ons dat wij door Jezus Christus verzoening hebben mogen ontvangen.
En wij zijn U dankbaar God, dat U dit alles mogelijk hebt gemaakt voor ons,
arme zondaars.

Due to distance ourselves from this world it seems to many that we have a lot of losses.
But by following Christ we win a lot.
We are pleased and grateful that we are justified by faith.
We are pleased that through Jesus Christ we have received reconciliation.
And we are grateful to you God, that you have made all this possible for us poor sinners.

Laat ik niet gemakkelijk worden uitgelokt. Dat ik geen kwaad denk, dat ik geen schade aanricht en dat ik niet blij ben over onrecht. Laat me niet verheugen in de ongerechtigheid, maar blij zijn met de waarheid.
Laat me alle dingen dragen, alle juiste dingen geloven, alle goede dingen hopen, en alle dingen verduren. Laten liefdadigheid of meedogende genegenheid nooit falen.

God let my compassionate affection be tolerant and kind

God let my compassionate affection be tolerant and kind. Make that my charity suffers long and would not be jealous. That she is kind and envies not, brags not itself, is not puffed up or not swells with arrogance. That I be a person possessing compassionate affection that reaches out. That I not behave unseemly and shall not continue to seek my own self-interest. That I not seek just self-concern, but seek rather the concerns of others. Let I not be easily provoked.
