Verbazen weg naar christelijke groei
Careful what you sow, it might grow
"Careful what you sow, it might grow."
- Unknown
"The one who sows to please his sinful nature,
from that nature will reap destruction;
the one who sows to please the Spirit,
from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:8-9
Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Master’s Arrival.
Observe how the farmer patiently waits the precious fruit [harvest] of the earth
–exercising patience until it receives both the early and later rains.
James 5:7
God make that I can have patience, can be firm and unshaken
that I can grow and continue to firmly believe.
Give that I keep the correct way to hold
and undertake the right steps to be admitted in your Kingdom.

zal van die aard vernietiging oogsten;

No time for immorality
At the same time, Christ hates self-righteousness, hard-heartedness and unkindness. He condemned the smug bunch of Pharisees who were looking down their noses at an adulterous woman - and then he rebuked the woman, 'Go, and do not sin again.' John 8:11.
Christ and fhe Adulterous Woman (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
The lesson of this story is clear. Christ hates both sorts of sin: the hidden sins of the heart, like the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, and the more obvious sins, like the adultery of the woman.
So we must constantly fight against 'internal' sins, like pride, and covetousness, and unclean thoughts; but we must fight equally hard against the 'external' sins, like cheating the income tax man, gluttony, and lying our way out of a scrape.
But this is only the negative side of Christian behaviour - the 'thou shalt nots'. Equally important, maybe even more important, are the positive traits listed in Galatians 5:22-23. 'The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.'"

Nieuw boek over Joël
> A new book on Joel
A new book on Joel
Where existing studies of Joel perform well is in the areas of word analysis and devotional application; hence, they do not duplicate this kind of material, although they include a final chapter on the relevance of Joel to Christians living in the “last days”.
They take the view that Joel is part of inspired scripture and follow the common belief of Jesus and the first century church.
According to the writers it is well known that Joel lacks unequivocal determinate historical markers, therefore they have given the most weight to the external evidence for its date, and this is its position in the Hebrew and Greek canons which, on balance, suggest an eighth century date. They also argue for the view that the book is a literary unity and therefore they have no reason to overturn the external witness of the superscription—that it is the work of one author, Joel. A sister-book to this one engages the work of other writers on Joel, but they have excluded this material from this book. They have sought to include only footnotes to the relevant contemporary Assyrian texts. Their approach is centred on the text rather than centred on the scholar and his commentary.
