In Belgium, the last few days on several television channels people could watch the 3 hours docudrama National Geographic Channel’s adaptation of Bill O’Reilly’s book Killing Jesus.

Adapted from the book by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, writer Walon Green brings the life of Jesus to life by focusing on his role in the geopolitical landscape of his time: Romans versus Jews, the local Roman leadership (Pontious Pilate played by True Blood star Stephen Moyer), the fallout from John the Baptist’s arrest and execution, and the prevailing tensions within the Jewish power structure.

Fox News Channel star O’Reilly wrote Killing Jesus with Martin Dugard. Their two earlier books, Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln, also were adapted for NatGeo and had been the two most watched programs in the network’s history until March the 29°s Killing Jesus unveiling. Killing Kennedy nabbed 3.4 million viewers in its November 2013 launch, and Killing Lincoln had clocked 3.35 mil in February 2013. Before the Killing franchise came NatGeo’s way, NatGeo’s largest crowd came way back in August 2005 with Inside 9/11 which had logged an initial 3 mil.

Kelsey Grammer as King Herod the Great; Stephen Moyer as Pontius Pilate; Haaz Sleiman in the title role as Jesus; Rufus Sewell as Caiaphas; Emmanuelle Chriqui as Herodia; Eoin Macken as Antipas; and John Rhys Davies as Annas could get on March 29 3.7 million viewers across that Sunday night — the biggest audience in history with this product which was hailed by critics as “gritty and moving,” “beautifully subtle,” “compelling” and “thoughtful”. The channel noted that the 8 PM premiere’s 1.0 rating in adults 25-54 is the highest rating for that demo since the net’s November 2013 premiere of O’Reilly’s Killing Kennedy, which clocked a 1.1, and 300% higher than NatGeo’s Sunday 8-11 PM average this calendar year..

Saul, Paul, Jackman and film

Of the early Christians probably the apostle Paul is the most interesting to make a movie about the Jesus' followers.

Hugh Jackman to star in the role as the Jewish man of God (also known as Saul of Tarsus) who crossed over to speak to the Romans and preach the word. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will be the other actors with name to pull in the crowd.

Not really an apostle in the strictest sense of the word, the devout Jew Saul of Tarsus even got to be known in the region for his dedication to persecuting the first followers of the Nazarene Jeshua (Jesus Christ). For the early Christians life was not made easy by Saul up to his voyage from Jerusalem to Damascus when he got struck by the vision of a resurrected Jesus, in the form of a bright, blinding light. He was blinded until he got insight and understood he had to work for Christ. A man named Ananias prayed and restored his eyesight.

At first the early Christians were very cautious, but soon Paul became one of the most important messengers of Jesus and went on trips to Rome and appeared before the rulers because he was also a Roman citizen. He is credited with writing 14 of 27 books in the New Testament.

Because of his special character and will to protect the truth of the divine Creator and to bring the truth of God's provision for salvation by Christ Jesus, this Biblical figure is an ideal character to be the pivot for a modern film.

The move follows the success of several other faith-based films including Son Of God, God’s Not Dead, Heaven Is For Real, to name a few.

Jackman, of course, has a huge fan base due to the X-Men and Wolverine movies so his name and star power is well-established across the globe. The next and probably last Wolverine film hits theatres March 3, 2017. He is also on board to star as PT Barnum for The Greatest Showman On Earth. Same with Affleck and Damon (Bourne Supremacy franchise).

Meeting to focus on humanitarian issues for Syria

The war in Syria is going on already much too long, having demanded lots of innocent civilians and having made the rebel fundamentalist groups stronger but also more divided. In the four years the battle is going on there seems to be more loosers than gainers.
Neither President Bashar al-Assad's government or his opposers seem any nearer to resolving the conflict.

After the US-Iranian (nuclear) deal, and (US Secretary of State) it will be the first meeting whereby John Kerry declined to rule out talking to President Bashar al-Assad, to come to discuss and to find a solution to end the Syrian civil war.

With key opposition figures absent, little progress is expected on resolving the shifting conflict.
Instead, the discussions are expected to focus on humanitarian issues and serve as a way for Russia, a main backer of the Syrian regime, to build its profile as a potential mediator in the conflict.

Lawrence Wright’s 2013 bestseller made in documentary 'Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief'

The religion you choose (or don’t choose) is on you.
writes Lee Vann looking at The 13 Most Controversial Religions

The recent HBO documentary Going Clear didn’t do much to help the already spooky perception of L. Ron Hubbard’s signature faith. Scientology was allegedly a big part of why Katie Holmes ditched Tom Cruise and (allegedly) why she ran into the awaiting arms of Jamie Foxx.

Such documentaries may have the spoken off groups to react. As such the Church of Scientology got to further ramp up its negative campaign against the upcoming HBO documentary, “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” that strongly criticizes the celebrity-centric religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard that includes Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley among its devoted members.

The film, directed by Oscar winner Alex Gibney, is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright’s 2013 bestseller of the same name. Among the former members of the church who are showcased in the film is actor Jason Beghe of “Chicago P.D.,” who is among those telling unflattering tales about Scientology. He is joined by other ex-Scientologists Marty Rathbun (once the church’s No. 2 guy), ex-church spokesman Mike Rinder, Travolta aide Spanky Taylor and Oscar-winning “Crash” writer-director Paul Haggis.

Whatever you will choose we do think you always shall get some positive but also some negative reactions. When going for a religion, which does not belong to the tradition great religions for sure you shall receive more negative reactions and get more people laughing at you.

Though Lee Van also knows that that doesn’t mean the rest of the world won’t laugh at your expense. From Tom Cruise’s affiliation with The Church of Scientology to Michael Jackson and Prince’s time as Jehovah’s Witnesses, nobody’s safe.

It would be wrong to cast shade on someone’s faith for a good joke, but the people have spoken. The following are typically viewed as the 13 most suspect religions. But like ‘Pac said, “Only God judge you.” Unless we get there first, that is.

Survival, rescue of sailor missing since January

The last time Frank Jordan spoke with his son, Louis Jordan was fishing on a sailboat a few miles off the South Carolina coast.
The next time he spoke with him, more than two months had passed and the younger Jordan was on a German-flagged container ship 200 miles from North Carolina, just rescued from his disabled boat.
"I thought I lost you," the relieved father said.
Louis Jordan, 37, took his 35-foot sailboat out in late January and hadn't been heard from in 66 days when he was spotted Thursday afternoon by the Houston Express on his ship drifting in the Atlantic Ocean.
"I was utterly thankful and grateful to the people who rescued me, and I was grateful to God that my parents were not going to be worried about me," Jordan told CNN.
