Gospel of Thomas and Nature of Jesus

Jesus  Christ his original name was Jeshua ben Joseph. He was born in a Essene family and as such as a devout Jew he only worshipped the Only One True God of Israel, the God of Abraham Who is a singular eternal Spirit Being no man can see.

Throughout the times we can see Jews also at times came to worship several gods. At that time - Moses had to fight with that fact already and Jesus encountered it again. For Jesus it was clear that there is Only One True God, and that it was not him, but the one Who is greater than him and without Him Jesus can do nothing..

It is strange to find Jesus being aware of the plans for his future. So in the Gospel of Thomas Jesus is having a slap against Trinitarian doctrine, declaring that a doctrine of 3 gods is polytheistic if one understands that each of the gods is a separate god. Thus there is only one true God

Sayings
(30) Jesus said, "Where there are three gods, they are gods. Where there are two or one, I am with him."
Translated by Thomas O. Lambdin (from Coptic)

(30) Jesus said "Where there are three, they are without God, and where there is only one, I say, I am with that one."
Translated by Marvin Meyer (from Greek)

Jesus has always been with that One God of Israel Who is One, and not two or three.
Jesus is denouncing the idea of trinity, whether that be 3 in 1 or three separate beings.
To Jesus, for whom there is only One, denounces a cluster of three gods, also known as a trinity of gods.
This teaches us that the Father is the Undivided One, the Deity he is not divided into 3 persons.
Lots of Trinitarians argue with the first phrases of John's Gospel that Jesus would be God. Though they forget there is spoken about a word and The Word, the Speaking of God.

The 'Word" appearing in flesh does not mean that Jesus was part of the trinity or an angel in heaven before he was born. First of all taht word becoming in the flesh gives us to understand taht what God spoke in the Garden of Edne had become a reality. For the apostle John it was very clear that his master teacher Jeshua (Jesus Christ) was that promised one who would break the curse of death.
Secondly, “to appear” means to look at behold, to allow one’s self to be seen, Jesus was in the world but the world did not know him until he made his appearance on the world stage, when he was about 30 years old.

It was the word that became flesh when Jesus says
"I appeared in the flesh"
The Logos or word, which is identical with Theos or Deity, now Theos was the Logos, that is Deity and was the word having become flesh. This is Deity manifested in flesh. Jesus came from the seed of David according to the flesh that is in the sameness of sinful flesh but being the son of God his character was clean so he was without sin (that is transgression of God's law) but we may not forget he had the sinful nature and as such could be tempted and could sin. (Remember also that God can not be tempted and can not sin.)

From the Messianic Writings we come to know that it is in the sinless man of flesh and blood, who did not do his own will, but managed always to do God His Will that God condemned sin in the flesh when Jesus was made sin for us, for it was in the flesh of Jesus that God condemned sin in the flesh and killed the one who has the power of death that is the devil which is our own desires and when desire has conceived it gives birth to sin and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

In the Gospel of Thomas it is said
(101) Jesus said, "Whoever does not hate his father and his mother as I do cannot become a disciple to Me. And whoever does [not] love his father and his mother as I do cannot become a [disciple] to Me. For My mother [gave me falsehood], but [My] true [Mother] gave me life."
For My birth mother [gave me death], but [My] true [Mother] gave me life."
Jesus birth mother (Miryam/Miriam/Mary/Maria) could only give him death or falsehood which we understand to be sin in the flesh. But his true mother give him life and as such the promised one by God, came into being only some 2 millennia ago (and not earlier).

According to this physical law, the Seed of the woman spoken about in the Garden of Eden,  was born into the world from a woman of flesh and blood who also had a sinful nature. The nature of Mary was as unclean as that of other women; and therefore could give birth only to "a body" like her own, though especially "prepared of God" (Heb. 10:5).
Had Mary's nature been immaculate, as some claim, an immaculate body would have been born of her; which, therefore, would not have answered the purpose of God; which was to condemn sin in the flesh; a thing that could not have been accomplished, if there were no sin there.

This view of sin in the flesh is enlightening in the things concerning Jesus. The apostle says,

 "God made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin" (2 Cor. 5:21);
and this he explains in another place by saying, that
"He sent his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh" (Rom. 8:3)
in the offering of his body once (Heb. 10:10,12,14).

Far too many people forget that Jesus is the sent one from God who came to declare God and showing the world that he is the Way to God.

In case Jesus would not have the nature of man or when he would be God, we would not have anything of the then fraudulent actions, like his so called death, because God can not die. Then we would also have nothing with his so called resurrection, because when Jesus would be God than we still have no proof that man can step out of the dead.

Sin could also not have been condemned in the body of Jesus, if it had not existed there. Therefore Jesus had not to be God, but had to be a man of flesh and blood, able to sin and able to fail as well able to have a free choice to do as he wanted to do or to follow (and putting his own will aside) his heavenly Father, the Only One true God.

Jesus his body was as unclean as the bodies of those for whom he died; for he was born of a woman, and "not one" can bring a clean body out of a defiled body; for "that", says Jesus himself,
"which is born of the flesh is flesh" (John 3:6).

Background of Faith

The Word of God in the Old Testament or Hebrew Writings as well as in the New Testament or Greek Messianic Writings speaks about people who had a faith or certain believe in a Higher Power, the Most High Maker Elohim Hashem Jehovah.

We can see or read that faith has something to do with having a belief in things which we are not sure of and of things we can not see. When there is faith present than this means that person is being sure of the things he or she hopes for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. For those people having faith "Faith" is the reason they remember great people who lived in the past, like Enoch, Noah, Abraham who were all great people who died in faith and whose stories are told in the set apart or Holy Scriptures.

Those great people whose stories can be an example for us did things because they believed in them and believed in the One for Whom they did it. The Nazarene man Jeshua (Jesus Christ) also had such a strong believe in the One Whom sent him, that he was prepared to put his own will aside to do the Will of his heavenly Father, the Only One True God of Israel. He totally trusted his heavenly Father and asked us also to trust Him Who had sent him.

With our belief in Jesus we should trust in what Jesus told us and in what his heavenly Father has to offer us. Looking at figures as Sarah, King David, Isaiah, Jeremiah we can find reason enough to believe in their writings and find Zechariah and other prophets telling us about what we might expect in the near future, the Messiah bringing us a world of peace.

Looking at Scriptures we may find assurance that all the prophesies told in it which did not come true shall also come true as the other accomplished. We can live by hope that it shall not be not for nothing to live a sanctified life and to have put our hope on the yet unseen with the absolute conviction that there are realities we have never seen but may be sure of that they shall come true.

It was by faith that our forebears were approved. Through faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God; everything we now see was fashioned from that which is invisible.

Faith begins as hope and indeed is unseen; so many doubt that it is real. The bible gives all the answers we need to know and provides the proof that faith is a reality that can be trusted.

The sent one from God

Lots of Christians still do not believe Jesus is the sent one from God and take it that it was God Himself Who came down to earth to fake his temptation and His death, because God cannot be tempted nor die.

They better look at some verses written in the Holy Scriptures which tells us that Jesus is the sent one from God.

“ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (Joh 3:16 ASV)

“ {1 } The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, {2 } Because he anointed me to preach {3 } good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, {1) Isa 61:1 f 2) Or Wherefore 3) Or the gospel } (Lu 4:18 ASV)

“ But he said unto them, I must preach {1 } the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. {1) Or the gospel } (Lu 4:43 ASV)

“ For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.” (Joh 3:34 ASV)

“ Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.” (Joh 4:34 ASV)

“23  that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him. 24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.” (Joh 5:23-24 ASV)

“ I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” (Joh 5:30 ASV)

“36  But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. 37  And the Father that sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. 38  And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he sent, him ye believe not.” (Joh 5:36-38 ASV)

“ Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom {1 } he hath sent. {1) Or he sent } (Joh 6:29 ASV)

“38  For I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39  And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all that which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.” (Joh 6:38-39 ASV)

“ No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.” (Joh 6:44 ASV)

“ As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live because of me.” (Joh 6:57 ASV)

“ Jesus therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.” (Joh 7:16 ASV)

“ Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.” (Joh 8:42 ASV)

“ say ye of him, whom the Father {1 } sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? {1) Or consecrated } (Joh 10:36 ASV)

“ And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the multitude that standeth around I said it, that they may believe that thou didst send me.” (Joh 11:42 ASV)

“ For I spake not from myself; but the Father that sent me, he hath given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” (Joh 12:49 ASV)

“ Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” (Joh 13:20 ASV)

“ He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.” (Joh 14:24 ASV)

“ But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.” (Joh 15:21 ASV)

“ But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?” (Joh 16:5 ASV)

“ And this is life eternal, that they should know thee the only true God, and him whom thou didst send, even Jesus Christ.” (Joh 17:3 ASV)

“ for the words which thou gavest me I have given unto them; and they received them, and knew of a truth that I came forth from thee, and they believed that thou didst send me.” (Joh 17:8 ASV)

“23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that thou didst send me, and lovedst them, even as thou lovedst me. 24 ¶  Father, {1 } I desire that they also whom thou hast given me be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. {1) Gr that which thou hast given me, I desire that where I am, they also may be with me, that etc }25  O righteous Father, the world knew thee not, but I knew thee; and these knew that thou didst send me;” (Joh 17:23-25 ASV)

The stone of essential truth

Jesus
Jeshua - Jesus (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11,12).

Knowledge of Christ and fear for God

Heart of Jesus
Heart of Jesus (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We do have to come to know Christ Jesus and his heavenly Father.
In Jesus we should put our faith to be able to come closer to God.
Not so much should we fear ordinary man and therefore keep to the traditional sayings,
But we should dare to really listen to Jesus' teachings and come to follow the Law of God, fearing Him more than man.

"One aspect of wisdom is recognizing your need for My help in all that you do.
When your mind is sluggish, it’s easy to forget about Me and simply dive into your tasks and activities.
But eventually you bump into an obstacle.
Then you face an important choice:
to push ahead full throttle or to stop and ask Me for insight, understanding, and guidance.
The closer to Me you live, the more readily and frequently you will seek My help."
— Jesus Always

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

In a few days time it will be 2020 years ago that the Messiah was born

In a few days time it will be 2020 years ago that the Messiah was born.

Since the appearance of the Messiah 2 millennia ago for man's attitude not so much has been changed. Still man wants to go his own way, without God. Still many people think they can be their own god and/or play for god, playing with nature.

Since the death of the master teacher lost of new teachings found light. There have been given some changes to scriptural meanings, and additional doctrines have been taught by man.
Throughout the ages several people looked at the book of books, the Bible, and found that they could bring some more money in their publishing company by editing this best seller.
The early, and later translators of the Bible into English and other languages, took license with their work, and did some editing on their own. In many languages we can see that publishers where not afraid to take away the name of God.
James Gerke reminds us that they changed the Sanctified and made Holy, the Hebrew names of the Creator to God. It is a Germanic, Indo European name, meaning “Invoked one" This form is also used in ancient Hindu Sanskrit.
“Much invoked, to call forth by incantations” (Magic spells).
Readers Digest word finder, Pg. 351 (1975) The majority of demonic deities are referred to, as God. Moon God, Sun God, Fish God, etc.

When looking at the Older Hebrew Scriptures the Divine Creator God clearly told mankind they should have no other God than He Who is. The Creator Deity of everything also let the people know his Name and tells them that it should be a set-apart or Holy Name. His Holy Name is mentioned over 3 thousand times and the Old Testament also gives so many more titles of this Divine Superior Being.

Bible translators sought ways to bring God's Name but also not going into the establishment or ruling class, which made that at certain times they found it not appropriate to print the real name of god and substituted it with a title or names as Elohim Yehowah and Yahweh were changed to the 'name' God, which is a non descriptive name, that has no title or meaning consistent with the Bible.

The Jewish National name for our Creator is Yehovah (Jehovah in modern spelling), it is listed in the Bible over 7000 times. The translators changed it to Lord, which is also the title of several Hindu deities such as Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu and others like Lord Budda.

It can well be that the adversaries of God or 'Satan' put it into the minds of the translators, to insert generic names "God" or "Lord" so that both the wrong gods and our Creator would be known by them or be taken to be one and the same, like many today take Jesus as their god and confuse him with the God, giving him equal status by name.

It is blasphemy, irreverent, and disgusting to use these pagan names for our Creator.
Psalms 113:1-4 The Scriptures 1998+  (1)  Praise Yah! Praise, O servants of יהוה {Jehovah}, Praise the Name of יהוה {Jehovah}!  (2)  Blessed be the Name of יהוה {Jehovah}, Now and forever!  (3)  From the rising of the sun to its going down, The Name of יהוה {Jehovah} is praised.  (4)  יהוה {Jehovah} is high above all nations, His esteem above the heavens.
The man who was born 2020 years ago knew very well this Most High divine Creator God and wanted only to do His Will. Jesus was able to put his own will aside to do the Will of God and demands also from his followers to come to do that what God wants from mankind.

Jesus also taught a prayer wherein we express our aim to look at that set-apart Name and to declare
"Holy is They Name"
Blessed be the Name of the Most High, from this time forward and for evermore. From the rising of the sun to going down, we should praise the Name of The One Who declared that Jesus was His only begotten beloved son. It was that son of the Only One True God, who showed how we should come closer to the One  God Who makes the rules and should know that preachers, or anyone else, don't make the rules.

Having this year a special year, in the way that it is 2020 years ago that the son of man who came to declare God and to show mankind the way to God, we should take this master teacher his lessons at heart and remind all those around us who Jesus really is and how we should accept him as the Way to God, and not make him to be our god, but to come closer to the God of Jesus, the God of Abraham. and God of gods.

The man born in Bethlehem 2020 years ago was to be that long awaited Messiah, the Christ Himself who set his face to Jerusalem, and resolved to go the full length of God’s will. He gathered up his courage and steeled himself for the journey.
He was, and forever will be the Unflappable Champion. And we have been called to follow in his steps.
Coming closer to the day of his return there is more talk these days of vision. But vision is much more than a good idea that stirs the soul to temporary endeavours. Vision is the ability to see it, the faith to believe it, the courage to do it, and the hope to endure until it happens.
Take any of these components away and vision fails. Each is vital, and indispensable.

Those who call themselves Christian should follow the teachings and vision of Christ who has a way of summoning our hearts to rise to the calling God has placed on our lives. Our vision, our look onto Christ, also supplies us with the grace to pace ourselves to go the full distance, regardless of the difficulties that await us. Courage is the mental and moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty.

The journey we have undertaken as followers of Christ demands all the courage we possess. It requires of us a steely, unwavering resolve to meet whatever seeks to delay us, defeat us, detour us, or deny us  –  to meet such things with a faith that says, “Nevertheless!” Courage is one of the distinguishing marks of true faith.

Man's fall, whatever else it may have been, resulted in a complete change of the centre of his being. Being made in the likeness of God, Who is absolutely selfless, man thought more about his own self. God's will and purpose was the one rule of man's existence until the moment came when our first parents substituted the gratification of self for the will and law of God. From that hour the self-life became the dominant principle of mankind, and the world is what it is because the essence of life is the service of self.

In this world full of envy, jealousy, strife, and murder, we should follow the example of Christ Jesus, the son of God, who was willing to give his life for us. Though he warned us that the gate to the Kingdom of God may be small and that we should be prepared for his return which might come like a thief in the night.

In this life we come to learn that a straw may throw us, and a pebble can wound us, mere children tremblingly taking our first steps in the walk of faith, our heavenly Father holding us by the arms, Jesus making us able to keep us from falling.

With a deep sense of our utter weakness, we may cherish a firm belief in our perfect safety, and say, with joyful confidence,

“Against me earth and hell combine, But on my side is power divine; Jesus is all, and he is mine!”

This simple proclamation of living by faith is so profound that it is repeated in three strategic epistles in the New Testament.
The first mention is in Romans in connection with the gospel of grace.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."
Paul was not embarrassed by the good news of the grace of God that was available in Jesus Christ. He knew that it was God's powerful truth that would save the soul of anyone (Jew or Gentile) who would believe in Christ.
That message of grace offered God's righteousness to all who would believe.

"For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith."
The same righteousness that the law demanded, the gospel of grace provided.
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God which is through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all who believe" (Romans_3:21-22).
The righteousness that people need (both for a standing in heaven and for a walk on earth) comes by grace through faith. Yes, initially and continually,
"The just shall live by faith."
Having faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God, we should others get to know this sent one from God, who is our saviour and the best one to hope for.
