Our political systems and juggling with human laws

The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government.
- George Washington

"You may juggle human laws, you may fool with human courts,
but there is a judgment to come, and from it there is no appeal."
- Orin Philip Gifford

"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance,
God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,
because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness
through a Man whom He has appointed,
having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
Acts 17:30-31

God, teach me always faithful to obey your laws
and let me in your opinion be justified
to enter Your Kingdom.

God make us holy

Following Two states of existence before God and Be holy (= set apart) for God, we ask not only How us to behave, but we dare to go up to God, knowing that he not only calls the gifted and qualified. (God doesn't call the qualified)

To God we pray:

Two states of existence before God

"There are only two states of existence before God: the flesh and the spirit, darkness and light, death and life. The unbeliever walks "according to the course of this world ... according to the spirit that worketh in the children of disobedience ... fulfilling the desires of the flesh ... and are by nature the children of wrath."
John Marshall,
The New Life

"This is a truth which must be courageously faced.
However good, in the worldly sense, however gentle or loving, the unbeliever is disobedient to God
- and it is He who judges, not we ourselves.
That is why Paul wrote: "do not unite yourself with unbelievers; they are no fit mates for you.
What has righteousness to do with wickedness? Can light consort with darkness?
Can Christ agree with Belial or a believer join hands with an unbeliever?
Can there be a compact between the temple of God and the idols of the heathen?
And the temple of the living God is what we are" (2 Corinthians 6:14-16, NEB).

"Weest heilig, zelfs zoals God heilig is."

Be holy

"Be Ye Holy - For I Am Holy (Lev. 11:44)

"If we are to attain to the Kingdom of God, and to a condition of eternal usefulness to God, we must in this life lift our minds to an entirely new plane of consciousness and thinking: to the plane of holiness - far above the natural, animal desires and interests of the flesh. Holiness is Beauty: the Beauty of Holiness: all else is ugliness. Holiness is Separateness and Purity: a Separate Purity: a Pure Separateness. The mental food that creates the transformation of our minds from natural repulsiveness to spiritual attractiveness is the Spirit-Word, continuously and liberally indulged in. "Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord." Naturally, we are the very opposite of holy. To become so, more and more, is life's purpose: its ONLY purpose.

Any time spent that does not contribute to this is precious divine time wasted: unfaithful stewardship. "Perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord" is a large enough command, and a high enough ambition, to completely fill any lifetime.
With God's bountiful and loving help, lift your mind above all natural childishness and foolishness, all interest in worldly things, all unclean fleshly habits and thoughts, all of the ugliness of the flesh, as anger, impatience, harshness, unkindness, selfishness, lack of sympathy and compassion and healing, forgiving love. "Be ye holy, even as God is holy."
What a joy! What a revelation! What a beautiful, noble company!
"Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness!"

Onze overtuigingen vormen onze houding
Onze houding vormt onze waarnemingen

How us to behave

As Christian can you you wonder how you can distinguish yourself from non religious people.

Where do we have to hold ourselves?  In the Holy Scripture, we can find several indications.  Jesus has brought the New Covenant and to those new Laws we have to hold us.  In the New Testament, we can find help and further guidelines for us to be a good Christian.

Read:  Recommendations for the Religious > Commands to the Believers

I Only hope we find GOD again before it is too late !

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday  Morning  Commentary.

My confession:  I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish.  And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees.  I don't feel threatened.  I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.  It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me.  I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto.  In fact, I kind of like it.  It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu .  If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.  I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians.

I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.  I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country.  I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.  Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?  I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.  But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.  In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different:  This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).  Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.  She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives..  And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.  How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'  In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc..  I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.  Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school.  The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself.  And we said OK.  Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide).  We said an expert should know what he's talking about.  And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves..  Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.  I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'  Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.  Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.  Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.  Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?  Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.  Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.  Pass it on if you think it has merit.   If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did.  But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards,  Honestly and respectfully,  Ben Stein

This week marks the end of 6 years since Andy Walton began the Weekly World Watch.

The WWW began back in October 2003. The very first WWW went out to 12 people. At the end of 6 years it goes out to almost 5000 email addresses. The website gets over 300 hits a week and over 4000 CD's have been sent out!
So much has happened in the last 6 years that proves beyond all doubt God's hand is working in the world.
Everything points to the soon return of our Lord Jesus to the earth.
Let us pray that the day of our watching is coming to an end.

Tim Galbraith 30 years in India

Thirty years’ of work in India

It is now 30 years since bro. Tim Galbraith, with his bride, sis. Sarah, moved to live in India at the end of March 1979.

How enormously India has changed in that time, especially the cities. The growth for the Truth was slow at first, as the seed struggled to germinate in a totally different soil. Many came to support bro. Tim. Especially important in this were those who came for a really long time, several for one or even two years, some for several months each year.

Then the Lord began to really grant the increase: 500 brethren and sisters, then 1,000, and now more than 1,500.
However, with such growth came a fresh challenge: how to develop viable ecclesias. The Bible Week system developed, initially one for all of India, then more as there was a need to develop them in different areas, and numbers were too great. We compare the challenges the Apostle Paul faced with our difficulties in developing ecclesias, labouring “until Christ is  formed” in them. The 18 states of India where, as yet, there are no brethren and sisters are full of untilled rice fields! But the 9 states where there are brethren and sisters still have room for an enormous amount of growth.
Some brothers came for 1 or 2 years, and others for up to 6 months. In the last 5 years
this has hardly happened. At present we have one brother from NZ who is there with his family for 2 years; it is a great blessing, but there is far too much work on his shoulders.

The committee decided at its last meeting to make a special appeal for more people to go for longer periods.
Finance is understandably an issue for most in making this commitment. The Victorian ACBM Secretary, bro. Graham Reeve, is keen to talk to any who would take up this challenge if only they could see a way of making it financially feasible.
There are quite a number in India during December and January, mostly for 2-4 weeks. This is good: they will be useful.
Another couple is going for 3 months from January. But what about the rest of 2010 – or 2011 – until our Lord come?

If we view the whole world through a lens that is bright

"If we view the whole world through a lens that is bright,
Then the world appears rosy and cheery;
Or if viewing the world through a lens that is dark,
The whole world will seem weary and dreary.

But the world hasn’t changed, for it’s only the lens
That’s distorting whatever we see.
So abandon the lens and seek truth, pure and free,
For God lives in both truth and reality!"
- Peggy Ferrell, Poems and Prayers

"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says
is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself,
goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom,
and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it –
he will be blessed in what he does."
James 1:23-25

Lord, give that I shall view the world more properly
and study Your Word.
And that I shall let me direct in this world by your blessed Word,
in Jesus name, Amen.

dan lijkt de wereld roze en vrolijk te zijn;

in Jezus naam, Amen.

No person has greater love than this one who surrendered his soul in behalf of his friends

John 15:13 (33 kb)
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Thoughts
Words communicate and explain. We can tell people that we love them. We can explain how precious they are to us. Actions validate and confirm. When we sacrifice our preferences for another, we show our respect and affection. When we sacrifice ourselves, our wishes, and our preferences for a friend, we give the greatest of all gifts and prove our love beyond any doubt.
Prayer
Father, thank you for loving me enough to send Jesus as a ransom for my sins. I am
thankful that Jesus gave himself as a loving sacrifice that not only saves me, but shows me the full extent of your love. In Jesus' name I thank you. Amen.

Heb Jah) loven "(Psalm 102:13-18 ASVvertaling)

Uncovering the Foundations of Faith

The Jewish people have been returning to their ancient homeland for over a century now and their modern nation of Israel came into being in 1948. Jewish control of Jerusalem came as a result of the 1967 Six-Days war - as it happens, just 2,300 years after the goat power of Daniel 8:5-7 overpowered the Persian ram.

Now when
a new area will be added underneath at the famous Western Wall, at the level at which worshippers at the ancient Temple stood in the past, you can wonder how exposing the foundations of the temple, even just the retaining wall of the temple platform, can connect us to the prophecy of Daniel (chapter 8:11-14) which foretold of the Roman power taking away the daily sacrifice, and "casting down" the place of the sanctuary, holy place, or temple.

Do we
we see the evidence of the destruction wrought by the Roman power laid out for the world to view? And are we reminded of the fact that the Bible has decreed that this destroyed place of worship shall be both avenged and restored?

Both Daniel and Jesus say that this destruction would be a temporary matter. Daniel indicates that the scattering power would eventually be broken, and the evening-morning sacrifice restored. Jesus says "until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

13  Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; For it is time to have pity upon her, Yea, the set time is come. 14  For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, And have pity upon her dust. 15  So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, And all the kings of the earth thy glory. 16  For Jehovah hath built up Zion; He hath appeared in his glory. 17  He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, And hath not despised their prayer. 18  This shall be written for the generation to come; And a people which shall be created shall praise {1} Jehovah. {1) Heb Jah}” (Psalms 102:13-18 ASV)

Ontfermer

„Leer mij Uw welbehagen doen, want Gij zijt mijn God.”Psalm 143:10

A perfect wife is one who doesn't expect a perfect husband

"A perfect wife is one who doesn't expect a perfect husband,
And a perfect husband doesn’t expect a perfect wife."
- Anonymous

"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
However, let each one of you love his wife as himself,
and let the wife see that she respects her husband."
Ephesians 5:21, 33

God, let me always be a good husband
who respects his wife and gives her great joy.

A small trouble is like a pebble

"A small trouble is like a pebble.
Hold it too close to your eye and it fills the whole world and puts everything out of focus.
Hold it at a proper distance and it can be examined and properly classified.
Throw it at your feet and it can be seen in its true setting, just one more tiny bump on the pathway of life."
- Celia Luce

"Nobody will make a lock without a key.
Similarly God will not give problems without solutions.

If a problem can be solved, then there is no need to worry about it.
If a problem can not be solved, what is the point in worrying about it?"
- Author unknown

"Faith is not a guarantee against trouble, but to defeat."
- Corrie ten Boom

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

By Your mercy, God we are entrusted with the service of proclamation why we never lose heart. No, we give not up hope. Although we also have the outward man perish, our inner life renews itself day by day, and here we can count on because we believe in Your Word and the Gospels being assured that we will be able to harvest on time.
Jehovah, You are the one who gives strength to the weary again, and the indigent an abundance of power. We, who rely on you, renew our strength and
mount up with wings as eagles; we will be able to walk and not become tired, run and not become depleted. For this we plan with the new man on his way to true understanding, innovating after the image of its creator.

God doesn't call the qualified

"God doesn't call the qualified,
He qualifies the called."
- Unknown

God doesn't call people who are qualified.
He calls people who are willing,
and then He qualifies them.
- Richard Parker

God examines both rich and poor,
not according to their lands and houses,
but according to the riches of their hearts.
- St. Augustine of Hippo

We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts,
for it is impossible to live one way and pray another.
- William Law

"May you be strengthened with all power,
according to his glorious might,
for all endurance and patience with joy,
giving thanks to the Father,
who has qualified us to share
in the inheritance of the saints in light."
Colossians 1:11-12

Creator of heaven and earth,
make me clean, physically and mentally healthy,

and pure of heart.
God make that I can be justified to be selected
to enter into Your kingdom.
